'Assassins' surpasses 3.19 million viewers, ranks No.1 at the Korean box office for 19 consecutive days... also No.1 in advance booking rate

The movie ″Assassin(s)″ has ranked first at the Korean film box office for 19 consecutive days. According to the Korea Film Council’s integrated box office system as of 7:13 a.m. on October 18, the cumulative number of viewers for ″Assassin(s)″ reached 3,192,758. Even during the fourth weekend after its release, it maintained the number one reservation rate for Korean films, leading the box office with steady audience turnout despite the release of new films one after another. ″Assassin(s)″ depicts the investigation into the suspicions and background of the First Lady assassination attempt that shocked South Korea on August 15, 1974. The tightly woven mystery narrative and the ensemble acting of the cast are highlighted as key viewing points, receiving praise for the film’s completeness and genre entertainment. It has also recorded high audience ratings on major film platforms, including a CGV Golden Egg Index of 92%, a Lotte Cinema viewer rating of 9.2, and a Naver real viewer rating of 8.9. Meanwhile, ″Assassin(s)″ became embroiled in controversy over historical distortion due to backlash from some conservative politicians and groups. Far-right group members and YouTubers held protests demanding an apology in front of actor Yoo Hae-jin’s home, continuing the controversy. As a result, the film’s official schedule was canceled. Yoo Hae-jin had been under police protection due to concerns for his safety, but the protection was recently lifted. Currently, ″Assassin(s)″ is being screened in theaters nationwide.
