'I Live Alone' Bungee Jump Site, Controversy Over Staff Not Wearing Safety Equipment

The MBC variety show ″I Live Alone″ recently faced criticism for safety negligence in a recent broadcast. In the episode aired on the 16th, actor Koo Sung-hwan was shown attempting bungee jumping with an acquaintance. The broadcast showed Koo Sung-hwan and his acquaintance wearing safety belts and preparing for the bungee jump. However, a staff member on site was captured on screen managing the rope without wearing any additional safety belts or fall prevention equipment. Viewers expressed concern, saying, ″While working on the bungee jump platform, the staff member is not wearing safety shoes, a helmet, or even a safety harness for high-altitude work, stepping on and releasing the bungee rope.″ Some also commented, ″If the rope momentarily gets tangled around their foot or slips, it would be truly dangerous.″ On SNS and online communities, reactions such as ″That elder has no safety gear at all, it looked dangerous,″ and ″Safety negligence in our country is serious,″ continued to appear. One netizen mentioned, ″I hope the workers on the bungee jump platform always wear safety equipment.″ It is not possible to confirm the entire safety equipment or work methods on site from the broadcast footage alone, and further verification is needed to determine whether the staff had separate safety devices installed or if any related safety regulations were actually violated. Meanwhile, ″I Live Alone″ faced manipulation allegations regarding the impromptu trip to Kazakhstan by Jun Hyun-moo in August. At that time, the production team explained, ″The scenario mentioned in the report was only a guideline document prepared to send a filming permission letter to Incheon International Airport Corporation, not a pre-written script.″ They stated that Jun Hyun-moo never received or saw the script. They also clarified that there was no separate filming support or sponsorship related to the Kazakhstan trip. The production team promised to produce broadcasts with greater care going forward.
