on the 19th, "It is true that the airing of 'There Will Be a Way' (written by Jung Jin-young, directed by Kwon Da-som) has been adjusted," adding, "As it is a project created by numerous staff and cast members, we are carefully considering various options. No specific airing schedule has been confirmed yet."'There Will Be a Way' is a cheerful and comedic legal detective drama about a ragtag law firm led by former lawyer and current paralegal Kwon Baek (played by Lee Je-hoon), which makes seemingly impossible battles winnable in a way the world has never seen. Lee Je-hoon and Ha Young were cast in the lead roles, and filming had been proceeding with the goal of broadcasting in the first half of 2027.However, the 'Grandfather's Pro-Japanese Controversy' surrounding Ha Young recently surfaced, causing disruptions to the drama's airing. Previously, Ha Young appeared on KBS2's entertainment program 'Problem Child in House' in August and revealed that her family had been doctors for four generations. At the time, she said, "My great-grandfather studied Western medicine in Japan. I heard he was the first doctor to open a clinic in Hanyang," and added, "He even treated Emperor Gojong."Although her great-grandfather's real name was not disclosed on the broadcast, speculation arose that her great-grandfather might be Ahn Sang-ho, based on the history Ha Young revealed. In particular, the fact that an article published in the 1918 issue of 'Maeil Sinbo,' an official newspaper of the Government-General of Korea, introduced Ahn Sang-ho's family life with his Japanese wife, fueled suspicions about his pro-Japanese activities. In response, her agency, Bister's Entertainment, initially stated, "It is true that my great-grandfather was Ahn Sang-ho, but the pro-Japanese activities are 'groundless.'" However, they later reversed their stance, saying, "Upon confirmation, we have confirmed that a record of great-grandfather Ahn Sang-ho being listed on the roster of the Daejeong Chinmokhoe (Great Japan Friendship Association) actually exists."The Daejeong Chinmokhoe was a pro-Japanese organization founded in Seoul in 1916, known for cooperating with Japan's colonial rule and promoting harmony between Koreans and Japanese. Lee Wan-yong, a prominent pro-Japanese figure, was also a member of the organization.Ha Young also apologized through a handwritten letter. She stated, "I had a fragmented understanding of my great-grandfather's life based on stories passed down through my family. Through this incident, I learned about my great-grandfather's pro-Japanese activities while searching for information myself," and bowed her head, saying, "I reflect on lightly mentioning my family history without properly understanding the painful history of our nation during the Japanese colonial period."The fallout from the controversy extended to Ha Young's subsequent projects. Media interviews for the promotion of the Netflix original series 'Love That's Like This,' which was scheduled for release at the time, were canceled, and she voluntarily withdrew from 'Trauma Center' seasons 2 and 3. Furthermore, the airing schedule for 'There Will Be a Way' has become uncertain.Meanwhile, Ha Young debuted in the 2019 KBS drama 'Doctor Prisoner' and later made an impression on viewers as nurse Cheon Jang-mi in the Netflix original series 'Trauma Center,' released last year.subin7134@tf.co.kr[Entertainment Department | ssent@tf.co.kr]
