Kim Beop-min, who has strong pride, is a character who rebels against his father Kim Chun-chu's (played by Kim Kang-woo) foreign policy of bowing his head to other countries. However, living through the chaotic Three Kingdoms period and enduring numerous trials and conflicts, he gradually changes. Lee Hyun-wook explained, "Kim Beop-min is a character who lives with many inner turmoil despite his cold exterior, and through that, he gains much enlightenment. I wanted to delicately capture his anguish.""I thought a lot about how to better express the character's changes and growth," he added, "I thought it shouldn't be seen as too light or too heavy, so playing Kim Beop-min's childhood was the most challenging. I would be honored if there were even a small part of the character that I resemble."Lee Hyun-wook described 'The Great Battle' in one word: "a hot war."
