Kim Yong Bin, 50 bankbooks and handwritten household accounts... Revealing the belief that 'money management starts from a young age'

Trot singer Kim Yong Bin revealed his economic mindset and money management methods on the KBS2 variety show ″The Manager Has Donkey Ears.″ On the show, Kim Yong Bin advised his manager that money management should start from a young age and that one must prepare for times when they can no longer work or need hospital expenses as they get older. He said, ″You should never engage in money transactions,″ and shared that he received early education from his grandmother not to engage in money transactions or guarantees. He also emphasized the importance of money management by recounting a story where his great-grandfather lost all the land around Daegu’s department store, Suseong Lake, Suseong Middle School, and Yongdusan due to a bad guarantee. Kim Yong Bin also shared an experience from middle school when he lent 200,000 won to a friend and never got it back, resulting in losing the friend. He said, ″If you engage in money transactions, you lose both friends and money.″ The manager also revealed that he is receiving small amounts of money back every month due to money transactions, and Kim Yong Bin criticized this. Regarding his money management method, Kim Yong Bin explained that he keeps a handwritten household ledger. He said he does not trust household ledger apps because they can be deleted and that he does not even trust banks. Kim Yong Bin said he has collected over 50 bankbooks, including the first one he opened at age seven. He manages all records himself, from when he was an unknown artist earning 50,000 won before debut to when his income increased to 1,000,000 won. During a meeting with fellow singers Choo Hyeokjin and Nam Seung-min, Kim Yong Bin also revealed his stance on lottery and stock investments. He expressed his belief by saying, ″Let’s work hard rather than look for a quick win.″ Additionally, Kim Yong Bin said, ″There are so many houses in Seoul, but I don’t have my own house,″ and when Choo Hyeokjin said there is at least a possibility, he replied, ″I have a possibility because I save, but you don’t because you invest in stocks.″ Regarding stock investment, Choo Hyeokjin revealed that he is a long-term investor, and Kim Yong Bin showed agreement.
