Singer-songwriter Wonjin of Barming Tiger released his first full-length album, ″Delusion Record,″ on the 20th. This album is Wonjin’s first solo full-length album under his own name, based on his experience as a member of Barming Tiger. It contains a total of 11 tracks, all written and composed by Wonjin himself, including the pre-released songs ″Candy Reminds Me″ and ″Winter Prince.″ The album is characterized by focusing on his own voice and musical color without featuring any guest artists. ″Delusion Record″ contains intimate emotions such as anxiety about things that have not happened, self-pity, and pretentiousness, expressed like a diary. Wonjin honestly and humorously conveys thoughts and feelings that everyone experiences but rarely reveals. Inspired by animated characters, he portrays the gap between a seemingly indifferent and cool exterior and a wavering inner self at critical moments through black comedy. The sound is based on Korean psychedelic music influenced by East Asian psychedelic music from the 1960s and 70s. Through his overseas tour experiences, Wonjin reconsidered his identity and native language, finding musical roots in Korean and the culture he grew up in. By combining the tone and romantic sentiment of old Korean songs with modern production, he created a sound where the past and present coexist. The lyrics freely incorporate expressions from various eras and cultures, including English, Japanese, and internet memes, centered on the rhythm and nuances of the Korean language. Serious emotions, honest inner thoughts, pretentiousness, anxiety, and self-pity are revealed with Wonjin’s unique wit. The title track ″Wanderer″ depicts a romantic drifter and strong man who is clumsy in love through black comedy. The contrast between his solemn appearance and vulnerable bare face reveals the side of a character who pretends to be strong but longs for love. The music video was co-directed by Jankui and Sanyan of Barming Tiger and captures the image of a wanderer walking alone on a blue path shrouded in early morning mist. ″Delusion Record″ will be released on global music platforms starting at 6 p.m. on the 20th, and the music video for the title track ″Wanderer″ will be simultaneously unveiled on Barming Tiger’s official YouTube channel.
