Kim Jung-nan Reveals Reason for Declining Role in 'Young People's Sunshine': "Gave Up Due to Graduation Issues"

Actress Kim Jung-nan revealed her experience of becoming less active in acting after rejecting an offer to appear in a popular drama. On the 24th, Kim Jung-nan appeared as a guest alongside singer WoongSan on MBN’s ″Kim Ju-ha’s Day and Night.″ She stated that although she had a strong passion for music in high school, she chose to enter the Department of Theater and Film due to financial circumstances. ″When I was in high school, I loved music so much that I thought, ’I should go into music,’″ she said. ″But music was expensive. My family’s situation wasn’t good, and just when I thought it wouldn’t work out, people around me pushed me to go to the Department of Theater and Film.″ After being accepted into the Department of Theater and Film, Kim Jung-nan said she failed the MBC open recruitment exam once but debuted as a KBS 14th generation open recruitment talent in 1991. The following year, in 1992, she appeared in MBC’s ″Our Paradise″ and ″Tomorrow is Love,″ which were considered the two major youth dramas, and won a rookie award. However, she explained that she experienced a period of obscurity when she took a leave of absence in her second year of college. She revealed that she was offered a role in ″Young People’s Sunshine″ by a director but declined to appear, fearing it would affect her graduation. At the time, ″Young People’s Sunshine″ had a viewership rating of 62.7%, but she said she does not regret not appearing. Afterward, as her acting activities decreased, she worked various jobs such as a reporter and morning show MC. ″I couldn’t just not work, right? So at first, I did reporting and other jobs,″ she recalled, adding that she worked as a dawn broadcast MC for over two years. Meanwhile, Kim Jung-nan is known to be running a YouTube channel that recently surpassed 190,000 subscribers.
