We are already on our fifth mini-album, and we prepared this with the conviction that it is our best album."'BREAK EVEN' tells the story of realizing that feelings for someone they like were one-sided and declaring, 'I won't continue in a losing relationship anymore.' The situation of not receiving back the emotions poured into it is metaphorically expressed as the 'break-even point.'The album includes four songs: the title track 'Catch Me', 'Super in Love', 'More', and 'Pop'.MINJU said about this album, "There were many scenes in the teasing content that frankly expressed annoyance and anger, so fans called it 'darkened ILLIT'. At first, I struggled with how to act, but the more I did it, the more stress I relieved, so I enjoyed filming."He added, "Since the album expresses the emotions of ending a one-sided relationship, the included songs are organically composed according to the flow of those emotions. After realizing it's a one-sided crush, it leads to disappointment, shame, annoyance, anger, and emotional release, so it would be good to listen with focus on these aspects."The title track 'Catch Me' is an electro-pop song characterized by a cheerful whistle sound, expressing 'firmly angry emotions' using sharp synths and biting vocal effects. The lyrics wittily convey the message of 'decisively sentencing someone who caused misunderstanding with habitual kindness as guilty.'YUNAH said, "'Catch Me' is a song with the very strong addictiveness that is characteristic of ILLIT's music. The whistle sound continuously appears throughout the song, captivating the listener's ears."Wonhee added, "The lyrics feature examples of 'excessive kindness' that appeared in our past songs. It will be fun to find these parts."ILLIT's new album 'BREAK EVEN' includes four songs: the title track 'Catch Me', 'Super in Love', 'More', and 'Pop'. /Reporter Seo Ye-wonThere is another reason why ILLIT is confident about 'Catch Me'. ILLIT pre-released the stage for 'Catch Me' at the encore concert of their 'PRESS START♥︎' tour held at Inspire Arena in Yeongjong-gu, Incheon on the 17th and 18th. The live performance video of this stage, released on ILLIT's official YouTube on the 20th, proved the high expectations for them by ranking first on the YouTube Daily Popular Music Videos Korea chart (as of October 21st).IROHA said, "We pre-released 'Catch Me' at the 'PRESS START♥︎' encore concert, and the reaction at the venue was so enthusiastic that we waited even more for this comeback. We will show a more grown ILLIT."The success of 'It's Me' also played a significant role in raising people's interest and expectations for 'Catch Me'. 'It's Me', released on April 30th, is still enjoying great popularity, ranking high on various music charts, and its fourth mini-album 'MAMIHLAPINATAPAI', which includes 'It's Me', broke its career high by recording 410,000 copies in initial sales (sales in the first week after release). When asked if there was any pressure after the success of 'It's Me', Minju said, "Because 'It's Me' received so much love, there was pressure to do even better, but this became a positive stimulus. We thought a lot and worked hard with the members to grow more and show a better side. This time, I hope the whole nation will fall for ILLIT's strong charm."Wonhee also said, "I prepared this album with confidence because it's so much my style. If our stage performance is conveyed to people, I think we will receive even more love than 'It's Me'. We will work hard to surpass 'It's Me' and become a ILLIT that 'no one can listen to once and no one can listen to only once'."ILLIT will officially begin their comeback activities by releasing 'BREAK EVEN' on various music sites at 6 PM on the 26th. /Reporter Seo Ye-wonAnother reason why ILLIT put more effort into 'Catch Me' is the absence of MOKA. Moka, who suspended activities in April due to anxiety symptoms, returned to the team in May but her symptoms worsened again, and she has been suspending activities since then. This is the first time ILLIT is making a comeback as a four-member group with 'BREAK EVEN'.Minju said, "This is the first comeback as four members. So, I felt Moka's absence and it was a shame. However, Moka is consistently watching our performances and cheering us on. We, the four of us, will do our best to fill Moka's void."IROHA added, "Moka is focusing on her recovery, saying she wants to return to the fans quickly. We recently gathered and talked about future activities. We hope you will wait until Moka returns healthy."ILLIT, who debuted in March 2024 and is approaching their third anniversary, aims to show a more complete performance with 'BREAK EVEN'.YUNAH and IROHA said, "We have steadily gained experience over the past three years since our debut, and now it's time to show a more complete performance. We promise to always strive to be a ILLIT that people can trust and listen to."ILLIT will release 'BREAK EVEN' on various music sites at 6 PM on the 26th. They will also hold a pop-up event to commemorate the release of 'BREAK EVEN' at the HYBE building's first floor in Yongsan-gu, Seoul from the 26th to the 31st.laugardagr@tf.co.kr[Entertainment Department | ssent@tf.co.kr]
