RIIZE releases new song "Insomnia"... captures a "heartbreaking night" with the voices of six members

The group RIIZE released their new song ″Insomnia″ on the 26th, showcasing music that focuses on vocals and harmonies instead of performance. This song is a prologue single for their second full-length album scheduled for release next spring. The lyrics were written by Kim Eana, and the composition involved The Stereotypes, August Rigo, Jonathan Yip, Ray Romulus, Jeremy Reeves, and others. ″Insomnia″ centers on acoustic guitar and the voices of the six members, calmly singing about longing and complex emotions that become clearer as the night deepens. Instead of intense beats or flashy choreography, the atmosphere of the song is driven by each member’s vocal tone and emotional expression. Sohee’s clear and powerful opening vocals anchor the emotions, followed by Wonbin’s soft tone that shifts the mood. Anton’s low voice, Sungchan and Eunseok’s straightforward and calm vocals, and SHOTARO’s carefully refined voice naturally blend into a harmonious whole. The members especially pointed out the harmony-rich parts as the ″killing parts.″ In key phrases like ″When I’m captured by the night,″ multiple members’ voices overlap, adding to the song’s poignancy. Sohee expressed hope that this song would highlight RIIZE’s vocals the most, and Sungchan shared that even the intonation of a single lyric was carefully considered during recording. Wonbin said, ″I hope this song allows everyone to fully feel their own emotions.″ The lyrics express sleepless nights and longing for someone who comes to mind. Phrases such as ″When I’m captured by the night, when I’m trapped inside myself, every time that happens, I think of you″ convey emotions that deepen the more one is lost in thought alone. The chorus repeats ″I stay up all night till I see the morning,″ but rather than building up the mood dramatically, it maintains a calm tone. In the music video, the members portray different characters, telling the story through facial expressions and actions rather than performance. Side stories for each member, written by novelist Cheon Seonran and illustrated by illustrator Noma, were also released. In the novel, Eunseok creates a world where time stops, and Anton tries to break that world and face the truth. The music video features scenes such as Wonbin burning down a cabin and Anton pointing a finger gun at Eunseok. The final scene includes a whale reflected in Wonbin’s eyes. ″Insomnia″ shows another side of the ″emotional pop″ that RIIZE has pursued since their debut. Unlike the dynamic performances seen in songs like ″Boom Boom Bass″ and ″Do Your Dance,″ this song focuses on vocals and emotional delivery. Led by the voices of the six members, the song stands out with its calm flow and natural harmony. The new song has been evaluated as a piece that confirms RIIZE’s musical growth and vocal capabilities.
