RIIZE releases new song 'Insomnia'... Member harmonies and drama concept MV revealed

The group RIIZE began their activities by releasing their new song ″Insomnia″ at midnight on the 26th through various music streaming sites. This single serves as a prologue to their second full-length album ″EMOTIION,″ scheduled for release next spring, marking their first new song in about four months. ″Insomnia″ is an acoustic pop track centered on acoustic guitar melodies and the members’ harmonies, focusing on vocals and harmonies rather than the performance-driven music they have previously done. The lyrics were written by Kim Eana, with composition credits to Jonathan Yip, Ray Romulus, Jeremy Reeves, August Rigo, and others. The lyrics calmly depict the complex emotions that grow stronger the more one thinks of the other person during sleepless nights. The members described the song by saying, ″The harmonies are the killing part. Our voices seem to create a great synergy together.″ The song begins with Sohee’s calm vocals, and the beat is added during Wonbin’s first verse. While the rhythm is built around the guitar melody, the overall flow remains calm. In the chorus, the phrase ″I stay up all night till I see the morning″ is repeated, but instead of dramatically raising the mood, the members’ voices overlap gently and quietly. In the part ″When I am captivated by the night,″ Sohee, Anton, Wonbin, and Eunseok add their voices one after another to complete the harmony. The music video was produced in a drama format, with the six members portraying different characters expressing the emotions of sleepless nights through acting. The video includes scenes reflecting the side story settings for each member, written by novelist Cheon Seonran and illustrated by illustrator Noma, such as Wonbin lighting a match to burn down a cabin and Anton pointing a finger gun at Eunseok. In the novel, Eunseok has the ability to trap a desired person in a specific time and space forever, while Anton wishes to forget precious memories. The story depicts how their conflicting wishes cause the other four friends to forget each other and become trapped in the time when they were nineteen. To celebrate the release of the new song, RIIZE is holding a fan event called ″RIIZE into INSOMNIA″ at Space S50 in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, until the 29th. Performances, talks, exhibitions, and experience programs will be operated differently each day, and the event on the 26th at 11 PM will be broadcast live on the official YouTube channel. Music show stages are also scheduled. RIIZE will perform their new song starting with KBS2’s ″Music Bank″ on the 30th, followed by MBC’s ″Show! Music Core″ on the 31st, and SBS’s ″Inkigayo″ on November 1st.
