PAWS FOR GOOD SURPASSES 1,000 VACCINATIONS FOR HONG KONG SHELTER ANIMALS WITHIN FIRST YEAR OF OPERATIONS

Paws for Good, the social impact arm of Whiskers N Paws, has funded and co-ordinated in-shelter vaccinations for 480 dogs and 550 cats

HONG KONG, Nov. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Paws for Good strives to harness the power of connection with pets, helping people and pets thrive together and in turn, make Hong Kong a more pet friendly city. The charity was founded on three core principles: provide vital vaccine subsidies to shelter pets, unite the profiles of shelter animals across Hong Kong onto a singular search platform, and foster compassion through pet-centric educational programmes and community events. Within one year of operations, Paws for Good has surpassed expectations by vaccinating over 1,000 shelter dogs and cats from diseases - keeping them healthy until they find their forever home.

Vaccination visits organised and funded by Paws for Good reduces financial and logistical stress on rescue shelters

In total, 480 dogs and 550 cats from over 20 beneficiary shelters have been vaccinated, providing protection against preventable, deadly diseases. Local rescue shelters in Hong Kong are packed, short-staffed and face non-stop rescue demands. Understanding that it's expensive and stressful to transport anxious and traumatized animals to clinics to get their vaccinations, Paws for Good has stepped in to help overcome these challenges by funding and bringing qualified vets directly into partner shelters, allowing nervous animals to stay calm in familiar surroundings whilst they receive core vaccinations. This approach eliminates medical and transport burdens, and allows rescue volunteers to focus on daily love, nourishment, and recovery.

Vada Chung, Founder of Paws for Good shared, "Passing 1,000 vaccinations is a proud moment for me and the team. This milestone would not have been possible without the generous and kind support we have received from volunteer vets, volunteer vet students, vet nurses and vet nurse students who have dedicated their time and talents to help us improve the health and livelihoods of shelter pets - to them, we are truly grateful. We look forward to building on the close relationships we've formed, so we can continue to support many more pets in the years ahead."

Earlier this year, Paws for Good also launched an online centralised adoption platform, allowing people who are interested in adoption to search through cat and dog profiles in a singular place, serving as a digital bridge between local shelters and potential pet parents. Currently, HKDR, Home for Homeless Dog, Hong Kong Paws Foundation, Kirsten's Zoo, LAP, SAA, and SPCA are actively listing their adoptable animals on the Paws for Good website. The charity is looking forward to more shelters joining the platform over the coming months, which will provide more pets with opportunities to find their forever home.

Sheila McClelland, Founder of Lifelong Animal Protection (LAP) charity said, "It's been wonderful having the support of Paws for Good - in the last few months we have found the perfect homes for 13 dogs and cats through the adoption platform and events. It's taken some of the pressure off of us and helped free up space in our shelters quickly and conveniently."

Paws for Good also dedicates time to children's education, with the aim to foster compassion, resilience and confidence through pet-centric programmes. The charity is working with schools and youth organisations to create experiential learning opportunities, by welcoming them to engage with pets and learn from the emotional connections pets can help create.

Community support helps Paws for Good continue its work for Hong Kong's shelter animals, from vaccinations to adoption support, as well as its education initiatives that help nurture empathy for pets. Through its monthly rewards programme, supporters can also receive vouchers and gifts from Whiskers N Paws as a thank-you for their generosity. Those who would like to help can find out more about donating and joining the programme at Paws for Good.

Paws For Good is a registered charity tax under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance in Hong Kong ( IRD File No.: 91/19627).
