Attract, former Fifty Fifty member sued for 13 billion won verdict announced

The first trial verdict for the 13 billion won damages lawsuit filed by Attract against 12 individuals, including former Fifty Fifty members Saena, Shio, and Aran, is scheduled to be announced on the 13th at the 61st Civil Division (Panel) of the Seoul Central District Court. On December 18, 2023, Attract filed a damages lawsuit worth approximately 13 billion won against Saena, Aran, Shio, their parents, The Gibus CEO Ahn Sung-il, Director Baek Jin-sil, and a total of 12 defendants. This lawsuit began after the Fifty Fifty members filed a request for provisional injunction to suspend the exclusive contract with Attract at the Seoul Central District Court on June 19, 2023. At that time, Attract announced a halt in activities due to the members’ health issues and claimed that external forces had induced a breach of the exclusive contract. Subsequently, the members sought to keep the lawsuit issues confidential by applying for restrictions on viewing the lawsuit records and trial documents during the litigation process. The trial schedule was also delayed, and the first hearing in August 2025 is expected to be held privately. The 50th Civil Division of the Seoul Central District Court dismissed the provisional injunction request filed by Fifty Fifty against Attract to suspend the exclusive contract. The court ruled that violations such as failure to provide settlement data, failure to manage and consider health, and termination of work with The Gibus did not constitute a breach of the exclusive contract. Saena, Aran, and Shio stated that they would continue legal actions after the dismissal decision and contest the core issues in the main lawsuit. They also filed a counterclaim against Attract. The three members explained, ″The purpose of the counterclaim is not simply to receive some omitted settlement payments. Before determining the truth of Attract’s claim for damages worth approximately 13 billion won, it is important and necessary to clearly organize the expenditure details related to each member’s past entertainment activities, which is why this legal measure was taken.″ They further claimed, ″To this day, the three members have not been provided with any transparent settlement details from Attract while participating in the related lawsuit.″ Meanwhile, Saena, Shio, and Aran have joined the label MASSIVE E&C under IOI Company and announced their return to activities. They stated, ″The three members played a pivotal role in achieving remarkable success with ’Cupid’ and establishing it as a global mega-hit song.″ Attract won a partial judgment in the damages lawsuit against The Gibus. The 33rd Civil Division of the Seoul Central District Court ordered The Gibus, CEO Ahn Sung-il, and Director Baek Jin-sil to pay 499.5 million won. Attract also revealed that, alongside the 13 billion won damages lawsuit, it is pursuing a 20 billion won damages claim lawsuit against Warner Music Korea and Clayton Jin (Jin Seung-young).
