From Idol to 6 Million Box Office Star Park Ji-hoon Opens Up About ‘The King’s Warden’ Success

During his recent appearance on tvN’s ‘You Quiz on the Block’ , Actor Park Ji-hoon shared his candid thoughts on the unexpected box office success of ‘The King’s Warden’, which has surpassed 6 million views.

he February 25 broadcast featured Park Ji-hoon, who has been at the center of what many are calling the “Danjong syndrome,” following his portrayal of the young Joseon king in the hit historical film.

From “Wink Boy” to King Danjong

Host Yoo Jae-suk welcomed Park Ji-hoon warmly, joking, “Our King Danjong is here!” and referencing Park Ji-hoon’s early image as the former “wink boy” idol.

Park Ji-hoon expressed gratitude for the invitation, saying, “Thank you so much for having me. I don’t usually watch much TV, but I’ve watched ‘You Quiz’ quite a lot.”

The conversation naturally turned to director Jang Hang-jun, who previously appeared on the show. When Park mentioned seeing the episode, Yoo playfully described the filmmaker as “almost a master the master in my heart,” drawing laughter.

When asked about the film’s success, Park Ji-oon admitted he had not anticipated the rapid rise in ticket sales. “To be honest, it’s almost my first commercial film, so I never imagined we would surpass one million viewers so quickly after release,” he said.

He credited director Jang Hang-jun and senior actor Yoo Hae-jin for the film’s strong performance, humbly deflecting praise.

Yoo Jae-suk then teased, “The director must be excited every day, right?”

Park Ji-hoon laughed and confirmed the sentiment. “Before stage greetings, he always tells me, ‘Don’t get carried away! Ji-hoon, don’t get carried away! Stay calm!’ But in the end, he’s always the most excited one.” The lighthearted anecdote drew laughter in the studio and revealed the celebratory atmosphere surrounding the film’s continued success.
