The series stars IU, Byeon Woo-seok, Noh Sang-hyun, and Gong Seung-yeon, bringing together royal intrigue and political power in a fictional contemporary setting.

At the center of the poster are Seong Hee-ju (IU), a wealthy businesswoman from a powerful conglomerate family, and Prince Ian (Byeon Woo-seok), the king’s second son. The two characters enter a contract marriage in an attempt to change their respective destinies. Although their relationship begins as an agreement, the poster hints that they may gradually come to rely on one another.

The poster also introduces other influential characters shaping the story. Prime Minister Min Jung-woo (Noh Sang-hyun) and Queen Dowager Yoon Yi-rang (Gong Seung-yeon) appear alongside the central pair, suggesting a larger political power structure surrounding the royal family.

Standing together in the image, the characters hint at the tensions between royal authority, political influence, and personal ambition.

Unlike typical historical palace dramas, “Perfect Crown” imagines an alternate reality where modern South Korea still maintains a constitutional monarchy. This setting allows the drama to blend familiar K-drama elements romance, power struggles, and family expectations with a unique political premise.

The series has drawn early attention not only because of its unusual premise but also because of its cast.

IU remains one of Korea’s most recognized singer actors, while Byeon Woo-seok has recently seen a surge in global popularity, making the pairing particularly intriguing for viewers.

“Perfect Crown” is scheduled to premiere April 10 on MBC.
