The group will release their fifth full length album “ARIRANG” on March 20 at 1 PM KST, marking their first group album in three years and nine months since “Proof”. But according to the members, this release represents something bigger: the start of what they call “BTS 2.0.”

After completing their military service and individual activities, all seven members have reunited making this a moment they describe as both emotional and overwhelming.
“We’re excited and nervous, but more than anything, it feels deeply meaningful” the group shared. “Just being able to stand together again as seven is something we’re truly grateful for.”
The album’s title itself holds a great meaning and personal feelings of the group that goes back to their roots. Rather than simply referencing tradition, BTS reinterprets “Arirang” which is one of Korea’s most iconic folk songs, through their own lens balancing cultural roots with modern expression. The members emphasized that the goal was not to force “Korean elements,” but to naturally express who they are now, allowing their identity as Korean artists to shape the music organically.
The title track “SWIM” carries a quieter but lasting impact. Described as an alternative pop song, it focuses on the idea of continuing forward through life’s waves, even when things feel uncertain.
RM explained that the song may feel understated at first, but grows stronger over time a reflection BTS has of themselves. Other members echoed this sentiment, describing it as “a song like life” one that listeners can return to again and again for comfort.

“ARIRANG” features 14 tracks, showcasing a wide range of sounds and experimentation. From hyper-jersey influences to psychedelic textures, the group pushed beyond familiar styles, focusing on expanding their musical range and expression.
The album was shaped through collaborative songwriting sessions in Los Angeles, where the members lived and worked together revisiting their early days while building something new.
For BTS, “2.0” isn’t a complete reset it’s a balance a new chapter.
RM described it as standing between two points: returning as seven, while continuing to evolve forward. At its core, it’s less about change and more about continuing the journey with a new perspective. Other members framed it as:

BTS will connect with fans immediately after the release through a group live broadcast on Weverse, followed by a large-scale comeback performance at Gwanghwamun Square on March 21.
With new music, performances, and a world tour ahead, the group is entering a new phase one built not on proving themselves, but on redefining what comes next.
