IU has revealed that she recently attended concerts by TWICE and D.O., explaining that watching other artists perform is not only enjoyable for her, but also part of how she learns as a performer.
The singer-actress shared the story during a recent appearance on the YouTube variety show Salon Drip, where she appeared alongside her Perfect Crown co-stars Byeon Woo-seok, Gong Seung-yeon, and Noh Sang-hyun.

During the episode, Gong Seung-yeon mentioned that her younger sister, Jeongyeon of TWICE, is a genuine IU fan. She joked that while Jeongyeon does not always keep up with her own projects, she would definitely watch Perfect Crown because IU was in it.
Gong then brought up the fact that IU had quietly attended a TWICE concert in the middle of filming the drama.
IU confirmed the story, saying she went because she really likes TWICE and wanted to cheer them on in person. She added that after the concert, she found out through Gong Seung-yeon that Jeongyeon had sent her a direct message, and the two ended up exchanging messages.

One detail that especially caught attention was IU’s attitude toward concert invitations.
According to IU, even when artists offer her invitation tickets, she usually prefers to attend performances using her own money. Rather than going as a celebrity guest, she seems to enjoy experiencing concerts more quietly and casually on her own terms.
That choice also reflects how seriously she takes live performance.
IU explained that, as someone who performs herself, watching other concerts naturally becomes a learning experience.
She said that from her perspective as an artist, seeing another performer’s concert is “all study,” suggesting that every stage, production choice, and live moment offers something to absorb. At the same time, she said she likes to quietly watch and enjoy performances for herself.
She also revealed that she recently watched not only a TWICE concert, but also D.O.’s concert. IU added that she tries to attend as many shows as possible because they help her relieve stress and also bring her a sense of healing.

The story gave fans a warmer look at how IU approaches her own career.
Rather than seeing concerts only as entertainment, she views them as part inspiration, part emotional reset, and part professional study. That perspective may be one reason she has remained such a consistently respected artist across both music and acting.
For IU, it seems, even a night out at someone else’s concert can become both comfort and craft.
The most charming part of IU’s comment is how naturally it blends humility with professionalism. Buying her own ticket and quietly watching another artist’s show sounds simple, but it reveals a lot about how she sees performance not as something she has already mastered, but as something she continues to learn from. In a celebrity culture often built around status, that kind of attitude makes her feel less distant and more genuinely devoted to her craft.
