Seo Kang-joon and Ahn Eun-jin’s New K-Drama Asks What Happens After 10 Years of Love

Most romantic dramas focus on the uncertain beginning of a relationship. Seo Kang-joon and Ahn Eun-jin’s upcoming series begins after the couple has already spent a decade together.

KBS2 released photos from the first script reading of A Love Other Than Yours, the official international title of the upcoming Korean drama. The realistic melodrama follows Namgung Ho and Lee Mi-do, longtime partners forced to question whether they are still choosing each other or simply remaining together because their lives have become inseparable.

The cast gathered for the reading in March, including Seo Kang-joon, Ahn Eun-jin, Lee Joo-ahn, Jo Aram, Kim Mi-kyung, Kim Nam-hee, Lee Min-jae and Lee Joon-hyuk. Directors Hwang Seung-gi and Lee Ga-ram attended alongside screenwriter Yoo Su-ji.

A romance about everything that comes after the honeymoon stage

Seo Kang-joon plays Namgung Ho, an assistant manager at Hunmin Confectionery who has devoted the past 10 years to his girlfriend. Warm, sociable and humorous, Ho believes the history he shares with Mi-do is strong enough to survive any problem.

That confidence begins to collapse when unfamiliar emotions enter their relationship. Ahn Eun-jin portrays Lee Mi-do, a film director whose graduation project once attracted international attention. Although she achieved her dream of entering the film industry, her career has since stalled, leaving her caught between artistic ambition and the financial realities of adulthood.

At the script reading, Seo reportedly emphasized Ho’s affectionate and playful personality while also expressing the insecurity hidden beneath his confidence. Ahn shifted between different emotional tones to portray a woman questioning both her career and the relationship that has defined much of her adult life.

Their characters have already seen each other at their lowest. That history makes their relationship deeper but also more difficult to leave.

Two new people disturb the couple’s familiar world

The drama does not present Ho and Mi-do’s conflict as a simple argument between lovers.

Lee Joo-ahn plays Han Tae-seung, a lawyer representing a film company that abruptly terminates Mi-do. Although he initially pressures her professionally, he gradually becomes emotionally drawn to her.

Jo Aram plays Park Su-ah, a junior employee at Hunmin Confectionery who unexpectedly enters Ho’s life. Together, the four characters form a relationship structure that will test whether the central couple’s bond is based on active love, loyalty or habit. That question gives the drama a more mature premise than a conventional love triangle. Ho and Mi-do are not strangers choosing between potential partners. They have shared 10 years of memories, family relationships, disappointments and private vulnerabilities.

Walking away from the relationship would therefore mean losing more than a romantic partner. It would require both characters to reconsider the adults they became together.

Why the casting is attracting attention

Seo Kang-joon and Ahn Eun-jin are being asked to create chemistry that feels comfortable rather than immediately exciting.

The production team said the actors naturally settled into their roles from the first rehearsal, bringing out the familiarity, affection and emotional tension expected from a couple approaching a major turning point. The series will also explore family bonds and workplace relationships surrounding the central romance. Early international coverage has focused on the pairing’s potential to deliver a more emotionally complicated romance. Interest has also centered on the drama’s question of whether remaining together after 10 years represents love, habit or survival.

Rather than relying entirely on dramatic secrets or an impossible fantasy premise, A Love Other Than Yours appears designed around recognizable fears: growing in different directions, becoming professionally dissatisfied and wondering whether emotional comfort has replaced desire.

A global Prime Video release

The 14-episode drama will premiere on September 12, 2026, airing Saturdays and Sundays on KBS2 at 9:20 p.m. KST. It will also be released through Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories, giving international viewers access alongside its Korean broadcast.

Hwang Seung-gi, whose previous directing credits include Into the Ring and The Matchmakers, is directing the series with Lee Ga-ram. Yoo Su-ji wrote the screenplay.

The global rollout could help the drama reach viewers looking for a romance beyond first meetings and youthful misunderstandings. Its central conflict is not whether two people will fall in love, but whether love can remain meaningful after it becomes part of everyday life.

For Namgung Ho and Lee Mi-do, 10 years together may be proof of commitment. It may also be the reason neither of them knows how to admit that something has changed.
