'Gills' anime to be released on September 9... Voice cast includes Jung Hae-in and Kang Ha-neul

The novel ″Agami″ by author Gu Byeong-mo has been made into an animated film and will be released on September 9. Distributor Et Nine Films announced this news on the 9th. The film ″Agami″ tells the story of Gon, the only child born with gills in a world thrown into deep water, and the beings who were everything to his world. The main character Gon’s voice is provided by Jung Hae-in, and Kang Ha-neul plays Kang Ha, Gon’s family member and friend. Lee Cheong-ah voices Haeryu, who forms a bond with Gon; Yoo Jae-myung voices the old man who first discovers and takes Gon in; and Kim Sun-young voices I-nyeong, who influences Gon’s new life. Other cast members include Jang Won-young, Kwon Hae-hyo, Jung Woong-in, Jo Han-chul, Park Ji-yeon, and Hwang Sang-kyung. The film is directed by Ahn Jae-hoon, known for works such as ″A Dream of a Precious Day″ and ″The Shaman.″ Director Ahn stated that he built an original worldview unique to the film based on the emotions of the original work. He said, ″We embraced the feeling of the original and did what only we could do. I wanted to depict a fantasy so beautiful that it captivates you, not one that makes you forget reality.″ Author Gu Byeong-mo expressed gratitude, saying, ″Thank you for bringing the characters in the book to life on screen with soft colors and beautiful animation. I also thank the cast who gave them individuality along with their voices.″ He added, ″I hope this work becomes a special experience for the audience where fantasy and reality blend together.″
