Actor Kim Seung-soo revealed his experience battling shingles on SBS variety show ″My Ugly Duckling.″ The broadcast aired a scene where Kim Seung-soo was having a meal with Kim Hyung-mook and discussing health. During this time, Kim Hyung-mook mentioned that Kim Seung-soo had suffered from shingles on his face. Kim Seung-soo shared that blisters had spread all over his face at the time, and he endured severe pain, saying, ″I thought I was going to die.″ He said, ″It felt like a fork was stuck in my face and scratching. No matter how many painkillers I took, I couldn’t sleep.″ He also explained that depending on where the shingles virus invades, bodily functions can become paralyzed. He said, ″I was told the virus seemed to have invaded near the conjunctiva. If it reaches the optic nerve, it can cause vision loss.″ The thought of potentially losing sight in one eye made him reflect on his life.
