No matter how many painkillers I took, I couldn’t sleep.″ He explained, ″Depending on where the virus invades, functions become paralyzed. If it goes to the right brain, the left side becomes paralyzed. They said the virus seemed to have invaded near the conjunctiva. If it goes to the optic nerve, it causes vision loss.″ He confessed that he was very afraid of going blind. He also said, ″I wondered how I would live if I lost sight in one eye.″ In the studio, Shin Dong-yup mentioned Kim Seung-soo’s battle with the illness. Shin Dong-yup said, ″We sat at the same table at Kim Jun-ho’s wedding, and he covered it up with thick makeup. When I saw photos from when it was severe, it was the worst case of shingles I had ever seen. It came to his face, so it was really serious.″ Kim Seung-soo’s mother also recalled the time, saying, ″It was very hard because they said he could go blind.″ Kim Seung-soo said, ″Fortunately, I fully recovered. The doctor said serious aftereffects would remain, but I feel like I was given another chance. Once you pass your 50s, you shouldn’t take things lightly.″
