BTS Jimin, gifts and hugs for children with intractable diseases... fundraising exceeds $84,000

BTS Jimin’s act of giving a gift to a child suffering from pediatric cancer and other incurable diseases at a concert in the United States sparked a global donation relay among fans. At the concert held on August 15 (local time) at Arlington Stadium in the U.S., Jimin presented a gift to Olivia, who was specially invited through the collaboration of Heroes For Children and UnitedHealthcare. Olivia was introduced as a child suffering from pediatric cancer and other incurable diseases. After giving the gift, Jimin hugged Olivia and kissed her on the cheek. Olivia then exclaimed, ″I got kissed!″ This scene was highlighted by major domestic and international media, including ABC News in the U.S., and Heroes For Children expressed gratitude through their official SNS, stating that Jimin gave a ″moment filled with joy, love, and pure happiness.″ Following this, as the meeting between Jimin and Olivia spread through online communities, donations from fans around the world continued. A representative from Heroes For Children revealed that the on-site donations collected during a charity concert held by a country singer in the past year did not even reach a quarter of the voluntary donations from BTS fans this time. The fundraising campaign initially started with a goal of $50,000, but with fan participation, more than $70,000 was raised in just two days. As of August 20, the goal has been raised, and the amount collected has exceeded $84,000 (approximately 117 million KRW).
