Lim Chae-moo opens Duriland for people with developmental disabilities... Upholding the principle of "Children First"

Actor Lim Chae-moo’s amusement park, Duriland, has allowed free visits for individuals with developmental disabilities through a business agreement with a welfare center for the developmentally disabled. According to JTBC Newsroom’s ″Close-up Camera″ report, Lim Chae-moo recently decided to support visits by people with developmental disabilities after meeting them. Due to safety concerns and social stigma, it had been difficult for individuals with developmental disabilities to visit amusement parks, but this measure now allows them to spend time comfortably at Duriland. Lim Chae-moo stated, ″Before meeting them, I couldn’t distinguish between Down syndrome and autism. After meeting them in person, I realized they were much more innocent and naive. I recognized that I had viewed them with prejudice, and I wanted to bring smiles to them as well.″ Since its opening in 1990, Duriland has upheld the principle of ″children first″ for over 30 years. Early on, Lim Chae-moo decided to waive the 8,000 won admission fee after seeing a family about to leave due to the cost, and he has continued operating the facility despite incurring 19 billion won in debt. He has also personally handled blueprint work and inspections to prevent safety accidents. Born in 1949, Lim Chae-moo debuted as an MBC 6th generation public recruitment talent in 1973 and has appeared in dramas such as Delicious Life, Birth of a Family, Cuckoo’s Nest, Apgujeong Midnight Sun, You Are a Gift, Shine Eun-soo, Happy Sisters, Gangnam Scandal, Would You Like a Taste?, and Nonsense.
