Park Wi apologizes after releasing KTX wheelchair fall video, admits "poor communication"

YouTuber Park Wi apologized after controversy arose over the release of CCTV footage related to a fall accident that occurred while he was getting off the KTX platform in a wheelchair. On the 14th, Park Wi uploaded CCTV footage on his YouTube channel ’WeeRacle’ showing the accident where he tripped over the foot of a social service worker while getting off the KTX platform. After some criticized the release of the CCTV footage as excessive since an apology had already been made at the scene, he deleted the footage and posted an apology. On the 22nd, Park Wi stated on his YouTube channel board, ″I am sorry for disappointing many people,″ and added, ″At the time of the incident, the staff did their best to help me and apologized politely, but I did not consider their position.″ He also said, ″I only thought negatively about the mistake that occurred during the process of trying to assist me better. My way of conveying it was immature and thoughtless,″ and added, ″I will be more careful and responsible in everything moving forward. I sincerely apologize once again.″ Park Wi explained about the accident, ″There was a ramp while getting off the KTX, and as I was sliding down, suddenly I saw a foot in front of my eyes. At that moment, the wheelchair wheel caught on the foot, and my body bounced and fell to the ground.″ He continued, ″Although the social service worker did not do it intentionally, I was angry that they placed their foot on the ramp itself,″ and said, ″That person apologized politely to me, but I could not accept it at that moment.″ Park Wi has been active as a YouTuber since being diagnosed with complete paralysis after a fall accident in 2014, and he married singer Song Ji-eun, formerly of the group Secret, in 2024. Through the ’WeeRacle’ channel, he has produced programs related to disability awareness improvement and human rights promotion.
