YouTuber Park Wi announced his intention to voluntarily resign from his position as Seoul city ambassador after releasing CCTV footage related to a fall accident that occurred while disembarking from the KTX. According to Seoul city, Park Wi expressed his intention to step down from the ambassador position on the 27th, and the city stated that it is currently proceeding with the dismissal process accordingly. Park Wi was appointed as a Seoul city ambassador on June 17 last year, with a two-year term set to last until June next year. On the 14th, Park Wi experienced an accident when the wheelchair he was using caught on the foot of a social service worker assisting on a ramp while disembarking from the KTX, causing him to fall forward. Subsequently, on the 21st, Park Wi posted the CCTV footage of the accident on his YouTube channel, explaining that the social service worker’s foot was placed on the ramp, which caused the accident. Although it was revealed that the social service worker apologized multiple times at the scene after the accident, criticism arose over Park Wi releasing the footage on a channel with over one million subscribers. Netizens expressed opinions that sharing the individual’s mistake despite the apology was excessive. As the controversy continued, Park Wi made the video private and apologized through his YouTube channel, stating, ″I failed to consider the position of the worker who did their best to help me at the scene and apologized politely at the time the situation occurred. I viewed the mistake made during the process of trying to assist me better in a negative light.″ He also said, ″My way of conveying this was immature and thoughtless. I will take the advice to heart and approach content creation with a more mature attitude.″ Recently, it has been reported that complaints requesting Park Wi’s dismissal as city ambassador have been submitted to Seoul city.
