Tap returns as a "student" after a 10-year hiatus... announces new album and Asia tour

T.O.P graced the cover of the September issue of the global fashion and lifestyle magazine Highsnobiety Japan, sharing his thoughts on reconnecting with fans after a long time. In this photo shoot, T.O.P showcased a powerful image with all-black styling and wet-look hair. His distinctive intense gaze combined with the styling highlighted his unique presence. In the interview conducted alongside the photo shoot, he candidly spoke about his roughly 10-year hiatus. T.O.P described that period as ″a time when I actually found myself,″ adding, ″Without that time, I don’t think I could have risen again while working on music.″ He explained that the long break allowed him to reflect on himself and restart his music career. When asked to describe himself in one word, he chose ″student.″ T.O.P said, ″I live with the mindset of a ’student’ who is constantly learning,″ and mentioned that he tries to learn good things when facing nature’s scenery or people. He also expressed his affection for his fandom, TOPSX. Recalling the moment of reuniting with fans after a long time, he said, ″I think I held back a lot of tears when we met again.″ He continued, ″Because there was a time of absence, I deeply realized the preciousness of meeting again,″ and added, ″Since it was a reunion after 10 years, I wanted to show a stronger, slightly changed version of myself.″ He also shared plans related to his new album. T.O.P is currently meeting fans around the world through his brand tour, T.O.P PRE-STUDIO 2026, and considers direct communication with fans his top priority. He said, ″There’s a lot to prepare,″ and added, ″The album is ready to be released anytime. I think it won’t be long.″ Regarding the direction of his next album, he explained that while his first solo full-length album, ANOTHER DIMENSION, contained autobiographical stories, the second album will tell stories about the world and people as he sees them. ″There will be quite bold expressions and new expressions that haven’t been seen before. You can look forward to it,″ he said. Marking his 20th anniversary since debut, T.O.P began the T.O.P PRE-STUDIO 2026 tour last month on the 15th in Hong Kong, followed by Taipei and other locations. The Taipei concert sold out all seats, leading to an additional show, and the tour will continue across various parts of Asia.
