Risene, First Celebrity Honorary Citizens of Geoje Selected... All Members Honored

The girl group LYSENE was selected as honorary citizens of Geoje City, Gyeongnam, becoming the first entertainers to receive this title. On the 9th, the Geoje City Council approved the ″Approval of the 2026 Geoje City Honorary Citizen Awardees″ as originally proposed during the 2nd plenary session of the 265th extraordinary meeting. As a result, all members of LYSENE became honorary citizens. The ordinance for awarding Geoje City honorary citizenship stipulates that individuals who have enhanced the city’s status externally can be recommended as honorary citizens. LYSENE is a five-member multinational girl group, with member Wonyi being from Geoje. The phrase ″Geoje Yahoo″ shouted by Minami on Wonyi’s YouTube channel became an online meme, which led to their appointment as Geoje City promotional ambassadors last May. Since then, LYSENE has continued promotional activities to showcase the charms of Geoje. As of the end of last year, there were 67 honorary citizens of Geoje City, mainly including shipowners who contributed to regional economic development and medical staff who worked hard on COVID-19 prevention. Recently, LYSENE donated 50 million won in the name of their fandom ″RE:Mine″ to support recovery from extreme heavy rain damage and aid disaster victims. They also provided over 16,000 beverages to recovery site workers and affected residents, engaging in donation activities for the local community.
