T.O.P’s long-awaited return to international fan events has encountered an unexpected setback.

The former BIGBANG member’s T.O.P PRE-STUDIO 2026 in Jakarta, scheduled for September 19 at Istora Senayan, has been officially canceled just nine days before the event.

T.O.P’s team announced the decision through its official channels on September 10, explaining that the performance could no longer proceed because of “local circumstances.”

“The artist and agency did their best to hold the scheduled performance,” the statement said. “However, due to local circumstances, we determined that it would be difficult to proceed as planned.”

No more specific explanation was provided.

A Costly Disappointment for Fans

The timing makes the cancellation particularly difficult for Indonesian fans.

Tickets reportedly reached 4.1 million Indonesian rupiah, approximately $250, for the highest-priced category. Some attendees may also have arranged transportation, hotels or time away from work to see T.O.P’s first solo event in Jakarta.

The official cancellation notice confirmed that the event would not be rescheduled on its original date, but the supplied announcement did not include detailed refund procedures. Ticket holders should follow instructions from the authorized seller and local organizer rather than relying on unofficial resale accounts or social media messages.

The cancellation also came after promotions had continued close to the event date, increasing the surprise among fans who believed preparations were moving forward.

Why PRE-STUDIO Matters to T.O.P’s Return

PRE-STUDIO 2026 is more than a conventional fan meeting tour.

It represents a new phase in T.O.P’s career after years away from regular music promotions and large-scale fan events. The series opened in Hong Kong on August 15 before continuing in Taipei later that month.

After returning to acting through Netflix’s Squid Game 2, he gradually began reconnecting with audiences and discussing music again. Director Hwang Dong-hyuk previously described casting him in the series as a courageous comeback, given the long interruption in his Korean entertainment career.

PRE-STUDIO 2026 appeared to be the next step in that process, allowing him to meet fans across Asia in person.
