'Not You, Another Love' Premiere, 10-Year Couple Announces Breakup... Starts with 2.6% Ratings

KBS 2TV’s new Saturday-Sunday miniseries ″Not You, But Another Love″ premiered on the 12th. Seo Kang-joon and Ahn Eun-jin portrayed the realistic love and breakup of a couple in a 10-year relationship, capturing viewers’ attention. In the drama, Nam Goong-ho (played by Seo Kang-joon) and Lee Mi-do (played by Ahn Eun-jin) first met at age seven, went through turbulent adolescence together, transitioned from male and female friends to lovers at 26, and maintained their love for 10 years. The two showed the familiar image of a couple who know each other’s tastes and habits better than anyone else, but as they approached marriage, their individual paces and emotions clashed, ultimately leading to their breakup. Nam Goong-ho works at a large company with four major social insurances guaranteed and is recognized for his abilities at work. He wanted to start a new life through marriage. On the other hand, film director Lee Mi-do was notified of her removal from a movie she had difficulty joining due to conflicts with the female lead Song Hae-na (played by Song Ji-woo), and ended up directing an adult film, facing a reality increasingly distant from her dreams. As this situation became apparent to Nam Goong-ho, emotional conflicts arose between the two. Seo Kang-joon and Ahn Eun-jin showcased a wide range of acting skills, from everyday scenes like laundry, cleaning, and dishwashing to emotional performances that touched on each other’s deepest wounds. Although they had no passionate conversations due to their busy schedules over six months, they naturally depicted the daily life and breakup moments of a long-time couple who always stood by each other. Eventually, Lee Mi-do declared their breakup by saying, ″Because of you, I’m starting to hate myself,″ and it was later revealed that Nam Goong-ho had secretly been preparing a proposal event, adding to the poignancy. The morning after their breakup, the two exchanged morning calls out of habit, realizing they had broken up the day before and screamed simultaneously. Their 10-year ingrained daily routine was shown to be not easily erased. Meanwhile, Nam Goong-ho met junior colleague Park Soo-ah (played by Jo Ah-ram), who immediately identified a problem with a product he had been concerned about at work, and Lee Mi-do had a fateful first meeting with Han Tae-seung (played by Lee Joo-an), the legal representative of the production company, to negotiate her withdrawal from the film. New relationships appeared before the two who had only looked at each other for 10 years, raising curiosity about future developments. In the epilogue, the moment Nam Goong-ho and Lee Mi-do progressed from friends to lovers was revealed. On the day the first snow fell, Nam Goong-ho confessed, ″The usual cycle of dating and breaking up won’t happen to us,″ and after celebrating nine first snow anniversaries together, they faced their breakup before the tenth first snow. Meanwhile, ″Not You, But Another Love″ started with a nationwide Nielsen Korea viewership rating of 2.6%.
