Stray Kids, first K-pop headliner at Rock in Rio...100,000 spectators thrilled

Stray Kids took the stage as headliners at the world’s largest music festival, Rock in Rio, held at Olympic Park in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. They delivered various performances in front of 100,000 spectators, accompanied by the lights of the official light stick, ″Nachimpong.″ Global musicians such as Calvin Harris, Black Eyed Peas, Maroon 5, and Elton John were also part of the lineup at this year’s Rock in Rio. Stray Kids elevated the status of K-pop by becoming the first K-pop artists to headline the festival. For the first time since Rock in Rio began in 1985, light sticks were allowed to be brought in, reflecting K-pop fan culture. On this day’s stage, Stray Kids performed dynamic stages including ″Topline,″ ″Special,″ ″Bounce Back,″ ″Maniac,″ ″New Me,″ ″Chick Chick Boom,″ ″Rock,″ ″Sorikkun,″ and ″Fresh Play.″ The audience continued to cheer during performances of the latest album’s title track ″This and That,″ as well as the tracks ″After You″ and ″Run It.″ Fireworks decorated the night sky during the ″Miro″ stage. The members added various performances, such as an a cappella rendition of Michel Teló’s ″Ai Se Eu Te Pego″ and descending to the stage floor to make eye contact with fans. Encouraged by the crowd’s reaction, they also performed an encore stage of ″We In The Zone″ on the spot. After the Rock in Rio performance, Stray Kids will continue their role as headliners at the new music festival ″Stray City,″ planned by JYP Entertainment and the American concert promoter Live Nation. ″Stray City″ will be held starting on the 9th in Bogotá, Colombia, followed by Buenos Aires, Argentina on the 14th and 15th, and Mexico City, Mexico on the 25th and 26th.
