IU releases new song 'From This Star' after one year... Tops Melon and Genie charts

IU released new songs after a year, placing two tracks in the top ranks of music charts. The digital single ″From This Star,″ released on the 10th, and another title track ″Dear my crazy soulmate″ ranked first on Melon Hot 100, Genie Top 200, and Bugs real-time charts, while on Melon Top 100 they placed 2nd, 8th, and 11th respectively. These new songs are IU’s first release in about a year since ″Bye, Summer″ last September, coming after a postponed schedule due to health issues. In July, IU postponed a solo concert scheduled for September at Goyang Sports Complex and the release of the 6th full album due to worsening health. Through a fan communication platform, IU stated, ″Recently, the chronic symptoms of eustachian tube dysfunction have worsened,″ and added, ″In the second half of the year, I will focus on recovering my condition and do my best to be with you at the start of 2027.″ ″Dear my crazy soulmate″ is a song dedicated to longtime friend Yoo In-na, with the description ″To Yoo In-na″ included in the song introduction. The lyrics, expressing friendship, feature lines such as ″You can be weird in front of me forever,″ ″It’s my dream for us to become two weird grandmas together,″ and ″I like you the most when you laugh watching me joke around.″ IU and Yoo In-na have maintained their friendship for 16 years since meeting on the SBS variety show ″Heroes″ in 2010. On the 15th, IU shared photos filled with memories with Yoo In-na along with the song’s lyrics on SNS. The music video features Kim Young-ok and Na Moon-hee, portraying Young-ok entering prison to meet a friend and Moon-hee working as a prison guard. Their acting expresses the emotions of a long friendship. The two newly released songs are scheduled to be included in the 6th full album, raising fans’ anticipation for the album.
