BTS Jimin, appears in the Merriam-Webster neologism 'parasocial' global infographic in the United States

Jimin appeared in a global infographic introducing newly added words in the American representative dictionary. Spanish-language visual information media Pictoline recently created visual content about the addition of 1,400 new words to the Merriam-Webster dictionary. Pictoline is known as a medium that easily conveys social and cultural trends and neologisms. In this content, Pictoline explained the word ″PARASOCIAL,″ describing the psychological phenomenon of feeling intimacy as if in a real relationship with someone you have never met in person. In the process, a scene was shown as an example where a character resembling Jimin, with long blonde hair and a black jacket labeled ″JIMIN,″ was getting married during Paris Fashion Week. This expressed the psychological intimacy between celebrities and fans. Pictoline added the explanation, ″The bond you feel with that celebrity, but he doesn’t even know you exist,″ conveying the meaning of parasocial. Life-sized cutouts of Jimin have become a hot topic for appearing at fans’ birthday parties and weddings. Meanwhile, BTS’s ″BTS WORLD TOUR ARIRANG″ has attracted 2,314,140 attendees over 38 performances since April, recording the highest revenue among global tours during that period. BTS is scheduled to start its South American tour in Bogotá, Colombia, on October 2.
