Stray Kids will not submit for the Grammy Awards... JYP "Reason undisclosed"

It has been confirmed that Stray Kids did not submit an entry for the Grammy Awards. On the 2nd, JYP Entertainment stated that Stray Kids did not submit an entry, but did not provide a separate statement regarding the reason for not submitting or its relation to the establishment of the ’Asian Pop’ category. The Recording Academy, the organizer of the Grammys, announced in June the creation of the ’Best Asian Pop Music Performance’ category, targeting popular music created in Asian markets such as K-pop, J-pop, and C-pop. The purpose is to evaluate the artistry of works that meaningfully use Asian languages. In this regard, BTS members posted on their respective social media accounts in July expressing their refusal to submit entries, stating, ″We hope music can be heard and loved as music itself rather than being divided by region or language.″ Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy, said in an official statement on the 1st (local time), ″Although there were disagreements and misunderstandings, we confirmed the passionate support of creators,″ and added, ″We understand that this conclusion does not satisfy everyone.″ He continued, ″We are confident this is the right conclusion for the entire music community,″ and expressed hope to celebrate the new category nominees at next year’s Grammys. The 69th Grammy Awards, where the ’Best Asian Pop Music Performance’ category will be applied for the first time, will be held in February 2027 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, USA.
