Seoinyoung denies assault allegations by IU again, expressing frustration with "Why would I hit?"

Singer Seo In-young once again denied the ’IU assault allegation’ surrounding her. Recently, Seo In-young released a video on her YouTube channel ’Reformed Seo In-young’ featuring singer Baek Ji-young. In the video, Baek Ji-young mentioned the time when the two were perceived as having strong images, saying, ″We never bullied juniors.″ Seo In-young then addressed the rumor that she had taken IU to the bathroom and assaulted them, expressing her frustration by saying, ″Why would I hit them?″ She also emphasized that she was ″not close with IU,″ denying the assault allegation. This rumor has been mentioned several times in the past on various broadcasts. In 2011, on MBC’s variety show ’Radio Star,’ the host directly asked IU about the rumor, and IU replied, ″That never happened.″ IU explained that early in their career, they were shy and had trouble greeting seniors properly, which caused misunderstandings. In 2013, Seo In-young stated on MBC’s ’Knee-Drop Guru,’ ″I never called IU to the bathroom,″ adding, ″I swear I never dragged them to the bathroom, and I didn’t see IU much at that time. We didn’t have many conversations.″ She further explained, ″IU was a very young junior, and I had no reason to scold them.″ Seo In-young also denied the rumor in broadcasts in 2021 and 2022, saying, ″I never took IU to the bathroom, nor did I hit them.″ Recently, she reiterated through her YouTube channel that there was no assault incident between her and IU. Meanwhile, Seo In-young debuted in 2002 as a member of the group Jewelry and also pursued a solo career. She paused her activities after a controversy involving profanity during the filming of a JTBC variety show in 2017, but has recently been communicating with fans by sharing stories from her Jewelry days and past activities through her YouTube channel. In May, she attended the YouTube FanFest Korea event, and in August, she performed her hit songs on the stage of ’Waterbomb Sokcho 2026.’
