Yang Chi-seung, gym closure due to fraud causing 2 billion won in damages... Currently a facility manager at an apartment in Gangnam

Yang Chi-seung recently spoke about his experience with fraud and the support he received from those around him on a broadcast. He appeared on the 984th episode of MBC variety show ″Radio Star,″ revealing the fraud he encountered while running a gym and the resulting financial difficulties. Yang Chi-seung said that in July 2024, he took out a 400 million won mortgage loan to operate the gym but received an eviction notice from the district office. He claimed that he signed a lease contract believing Company A was the building owner, but in reality, the land belonged to the district office, and the company did not inform him of this fact. As a result, he had to close the gym on July 25 of last year, and the damages, including facility costs, refund expenses, and attorney fees, amounted to about 2 billion won. On the broadcast, Yang Chi-seung shared that after closing the gym, he has been working as a community facility manager at an apartment complex in Gangnam and also runs a restaurant. He said, ″I didn’t even receive key money. Refunding members, paying attorney fees, and all that comes to 1.5 billion won. If you include the lost revenue over the years, it’s even more. I also took out a mortgage loan on the apartment and continue to pay the interest. I even sold my car to refund the gym members.″ He added that his current income is about one-tenth of what it was before. Yang Chi-seung also revealed anecdotes about the encouragement and help he received from those around him. He said that when he visits his restaurant, some people say, ″Aren’t you the one who got scammed? You have to stay strong,″ and bring him a lot of food. He explained that although he received offers to open stores in buildings, the costs of equipment and interior work made it difficult to actually move in. On the other hand, he mentioned that some people asked him for financial help. Additionally, he confessed that he feels deeply indebted to actors Choi Kang-hee, Park Ha-na, Sung Hoon, and broadcaster Kim Sook. Choi Kang-hee prayed for him, Park Ha-na suddenly called to offer financial help, Kim Sook helped him find a gym, and Sung Hoon took care of his meals. Yang Chi-seung said, ″I feel sorry to break down like this because of such kindness. To myself and to these people. I want to succeed and show all of this to them.″ Meanwhile, Yang Chi-seung attracted attention for his changed eye appearance during the broadcast. He explained that he visited a shop after a long time, and the director applied heavy eye makeup to give a strong impression.
