For most K-pop albums, the biggest chart moment comes during the first week. After that, the wave and attention usually fades. But SEVENTEEN’s S.Coups and Mingyu are proving that some releases can keep gaining power long after the initial buzz.
The duo’s mini album HYPE VIBES has climbed back to the top of Japan’s Oricon chart more than five months after its release.
According to Oricon on March 3, HYPE VIBES ranked No.1 on the Daily Album Ranking dated March 2. The renewed surge appears to be fueled by the strong response to the recent “CxM [DOUBLE UP] LIVE PARTY” concerts held in two Japanese cities last month.
Originally released on September 29 last year, HYPE VIBES has continued to draw steady attention both in Korea and internationally. The album is now approaching the milestone of one million cumulative sales.

When it was first released, the album already made headlines. It recorded the highest first week sales ever for a K-pop unit album and also achieved the highest ranking for a K-pop unit release on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States.
Japan has played a major role in that momentum. Within just one day of release, the album shipped more than 100,000 copies and received a Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan. It also topped Oricon’s Weekly Album Ranking and Weekly Combined Album Ranking shortly after launch.
The duo’s recent concerts appear to have reignited interest in the album.
The “CxM [DOUBLE UP] LIVE PARTY,” held across four shows in Aichi and Chiba, sold out completely and demonstrated the strong ticket power of the SEVENTEEN members. The tour atmosphere seems to have translated directly into renewed album demand.
The concert series is scheduled to continue from April 24 to 26 at Kaohsiung Arena in Taiwan.
Fans online have also been celebrating the chart comeback, with many describing the achievement as proof that the duo’s unit project has lasting replay value rather than being a short-term release.

At the same time, SEVENTEEN’s new track Tiny Light, released on February 27, is also receiving strong reactions.
The song immediately topped AWA Music’s real time chart “THE HOT 100” in Japan and entered Oricon’s Daily Digital Single Ranking at No.3 on the day of release.
Adding to the attention, Tiny Light has been selected as the ending theme for Part 2 of the anime Beastars Final Season, which will be released globally on Netflix next month.

What stands out about the recent Oricon result is the timing. Chart rebounds months after release are relatively rare for idol albums, especially unit projects.
The resurgence suggests that live performances and fan events can significantly extend the lifecycle of K-pop releases. In this case, the strong concert response appears to have brought renewed attention to the album and pushed it back to the top of the charts.
For SEVENTEEN fans, it is another reminder that the group’s influence continues to reach far beyond the typical promotional window.
