The account of SNS user A, who is known to have first posted a video exposing part of Jennie’s body, has been suspended. The Jennie-related video uploaded by A around the 15th surpassed 12.5 million views within half a day. After the video was made public, controversy continued online, including on SNS, over whether it was manipulated by AI. However, the problematic video continued to be shared and circulated online through SNS and other platforms, accompanied by low-quality malicious comments. Jennie’s agency, OA Entertainment, stated in an official position on the 18th that acts of malicious editing and processing of the artist’s photos and videos, as well as posting and distributing content that infringes on privacy and personality rights, have been continuously confirmed. The agency emphasized that, in cooperation with professional legal representatives, they are continuing to monitor and collect evidence on related posts and accounts, and are pursuing civil and criminal legal actions against serious infringements of rights. They also declared that ″there will be no settlements or leniency.″ If it is proven that A manipulated the video with AI, A may face up to 7 years in prison or a fine of up to 50 million won under Article 14-2 of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes (distribution of false videos, etc.). Even if A is a foreigner residing overseas, punishment is possible, and local laws and international criminal judicial cooperation may be reviewed. Recently, there have also been cases where victims of malicious comments on SNS, such as singer Choi Siwon and YouTuber Gwajeup Seyun, confirmed the identities of malicious commenters through U.S. courts.
