Park Wi and Song Ji-eun couple confirm 'Vision Trip' visit to Kenya... Not volunteering

Since Park Wi released the CCTV footage of the KTX fall accident, controversy has continued, and a video of his visit to Kenya last year has come back into the spotlight. The video shows Park Wi and his wife Song Ji-eun receiving help from volunteers and locals while climbing stairs or moving around in Kenya. The visit of Park Wi and Song Ji-eun to Kenya took place in August last year as part of the ″Kenya Vision Trip″ program organized by Korea Compassion. The Vision Trip is a program where Compassion visits local offices, centers, and homes in countries where they support children to observe the process of delivering sponsorship funds and letters and to see the living conditions of the children. It is distinct from volunteer work. No separate volunteer activities are conducted. Park Wi also mentioned in the video that this trip was a ″travel″ rather than volunteer work. Later, in May, Park Wi held a fundraising event called ″Wiracle Walk″ to build wells and provide hygiene and health education for 1,400 children in Kenya, their families, and local residents, achieving a goal of 100 million won. Regarding the KTX accident, Park Wi experienced a fall on the 14th of last month while getting off the train when he tripped over the foot of a social service worker on a slope. He released the CCTV footage of the accident on his channel, but there were criticisms that it was excessive to make it public since the social service worker had already apologized. Park Wi stated, ″At the time of the incident, I did not consider the position of the staff member who did their best to help me and apologized politely. I only thought negatively about the mistake that occurred in the process of trying to assist me better. My way of conveying this was immature and thoughtless. I apologize to everyone who worked hard on the scene.″ Following the controversy, there has been a decrease in subscribers and cancellations of lectures.
