CU sells 600,000 'RESCENE bread'... Photocard craze, top purchase among men in their 30s

Convenience store CU collaborated with girl group RESCENE to launch five types of ’RESCENE bread,’ which recorded cumulative sales of approximately 600,000 units as of the 1st. CU, operated by BGF Retail, sequentially introduced products reflecting the preferences of RESCENE members, starting with ’Woni’s Corn Cream Bread’ on the 17th of last month and ’Rib’s Chocolate Hotteok’ on the 30th. The ’RESCENE bread’ includes 27 types of transparent photo cards featuring each member’s image, randomly enclosed, sparking a collecting craze mainly among fans. The gender ratio of purchasers was 69.1% male and 30.9% female, with a higher proportion of males. By age, men in their 30s accounted for the largest share at 22.7%, followed by men in their 40s at 18.6%, and men in their 20s at 15.8%. Among female buyers, those in their 40s were the highest at 10.5%, followed by women in their 30s at 7.2%, and women in their 20s at 6.8%. Men aged 50 and above accounted for 6.2%, teenage males 5.8%, women aged 50 and above 5.7%, and teenage females 0.7%. BGF Retail is focusing on the sales of RESCENE bread while also considering the release of additional collaborative products. Meanwhile, GS25, operated by GS Retail, launched ’Hanjeongseon Yogurt Chapssaltteok,’ a collaboration with K-dessert brand ’Hanjeongseon’ and manufacturer ’Roromelo,’ on the 3rd of last month, selling 600,000 units as of the 1st of this month. This product ranked first in GS25 app pickup sales, and GS Retail has announced plans to release new products in mid-month. GS Retail also sold 1.6 million units of ’Minumsa Bread,’ a collaboration with publisher ’Minumsa,’ which included 20 types of bookmarks, by the end of last month.
