'Knowing Bros' Kim Hyun-chul wanted a refund of 500,000 won in congratulatory money given to Yoo Jae-suk.

Kim Hyun-chul appeared on JTBC variety show ″Knowing Bros″ and revealed an anecdote related to the congratulatory money he gave at Yoo Jae-suk’s wedding. On the show, Kim Hyun-chul stated that he decided the amount of congratulatory money based on his closeness with the person during occasions such as celebrations and condolences. He explained the criteria, saying, ″For close PDs, 100,000 won; for main writers, 50,000 won; and for other writers, 30,000 won.″ He said he gave 150,000 won for Kang Ho-dong’s wedding, which was more than usual, adding, ″I thought I should make a good impression, so I gave 150,000 won. 200,000 won felt burdensome, but 150,000 won was doable.″ He revealed that he gave 500,000 won at Yoo Jae-suk’s wedding, which made Kang Ho-dong feel a bit disappointed. Kim Hyun-chul explained the reason, saying, ″Jae-suk was doing many programs at the time, so I gave more to make a good impression.″ Although he gave a large amount, he said he did not receive any special benefits, adding, ″Since I didn’t get any benefits, I hope about 300,000 won could be refunded. I’m not saying this to be funny.″ Additionally, Kim Hyun-chul compared how Kang Ho-dong and Yoo Jae-suk treat him. He joked, ″Kang Ho-dong, who gave 150,000 won, meets me even on ’X-Man’ and thinks of me fondly, but Jae-suk is friendly with many people and treats me the same. I’m the one who gave 500,000 won.″ He also revealed that he never actually asked for any refund of the congratulatory money. Instead, his feelings changed thanks to the congratulatory money he received from Yoo Jae-suk at his own wedding. Kim Hyun-chul said, ″I couldn’t bring myself to say it, but Jae-suk gave several times more congratulatory money at my wedding, so I was grateful,″ and added that he even thought it would have been better if Yoo Jae-suk had given an even larger amount.
